1st grade technology lessons
First Grade technology lessons emphasize a strong focus on typing and word processing throughout the year. First graders will also expand their skills with an introduction to Powerpoint (Max Show), explore their creativity with KidPix paint program, graduate to a typing program, and learn to use a web browser.

Microsoft Word- Students will receive opportunity to review program how to open and close the program. Demonstrate backspace, enter, shift undo keys and cut/copy/paste. Write several sentences using spelling words, change font size, font style and add shapes. Children learn to print and save documents.

Microsoft Powerpoint- Introduce program interface. Explain how to navigate to powerpoint file(s). Students will create a single slide showing the life cycle of a frog. Eggs > tadpole with legs > froglet > adult frog. Print out for coloring. Save work and continue if necessary.

Typing Instructor for Kids- Introduce/ review the program and characters. Demonstrate how to enter the student's name, use of backspace to fix mistakes. Explain and demo how to type the alphabet using both hands. Students should work towards typing through all sections to earn completion certificates consistently. Emphasize typing with both hands, walk around class during sessions and reinforce two hand typing with gentle reminders.

Pixie- is exciting creativity software students can use to share ideas, imagination, and understanding through a combination of text, original artwork, voice narration, and images.
Internet Explorer- To find learning sites like ABC Ya and Starfall.
